To reach Botswana, most travellers fly into Johannesburg in South Africa, the major hub for Southern Africa safaris. Qantas flies directly to Johannesburg from Sydney or Perth, alternatively, Singapore Airlines (via Singapore) is another option. From Johannesburg there are daily flights to Maun, Botswana, the Okavango Delta’s major access point.

Okavango & Desert Safari
Ex Maun, Botswana
13 days/12 nights
Days 1-3 | 20-22 August
Makgadikgadi Pans
Meet your tour escort at Maun airport and fly to San Camp in the Makgadikgadi salt pans. You can forget the tourist crowds here; it’s just the camp staff and guests, the wildlife, and a handful of local San Bushmen. San Camp is a romantic tented camp situated on the edge of the pans, designed in 1940s safari style. The beautiful, white tented rooms have enormous four-posters, cotton sheets and soft blankets. Ensuite bathrooms have flush loos and solar heated showers. The main area includes an elegant mess pavilion for 3-course feasts, a decadent tea tent, and swimming pool pavilion. Days 4-6 | 23-25 August
Khwai Private Reserve
Today we fly by light aircraft to Elephant Pan, in the dry interior of the Okavango. Elephants and other game flock to the waterhole next to the camp, offering a front-row seat from the comfort of the main area. There is also a ground level photographic hide nearby for thrilling sightings. The camp has just 8 stylish, but eco-conscious tents, with solar power and ensuite bathroom with shower and hot water. In the heart of the camp is the dining deck, a pool, and comfy lounge areas to keep an eye on the action. During our stay one night is spent in the spectacular Skybeds camp which includes 3 Skybed “rooms” perched on three-storey platforms overlooking a waterhole. Each has a bathroom, shower and flushing loo and a double bed with mosquito net, completely open to the stars. Meals are served around the campfire or on the dedicated dining platform. BLD
Days 7-9 | 26-28 August
Northern Okavango
Today we fly to the magical wilderness of the northern Okavango, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Here we stay at Dukes Camp, surrounded by crystal clear channels in a vast game-rich private concession. The 8 guest tents are built on raised wooden decks beneath a canopy of ebony and leadwood trees, offering a luxurious under-canvas experience. Expert guides will accompany us on a range of safari activities including game drives, night drives, boat and mokoro excursions. The heart of the camp includes a glamorous dining and lounge area, a Persian tea-tent, and a pool pavilion. Lavish 3 course meals are served under the shade of the trees or around the long vintage dining table in the communal dining tent. BLD
Days 10-12 | 29-31 August
Southern Okavango
Transfer by helicopter to Mokolwane Camp hidden in 180,000-hectares of wilderness teeming with elephant and all the Okavango predators. The area boasts the third highest density of leopard in Africa. The camp has 7 charming canvas rooms with ensuite bathroom with indoor shower and a private deck. The main area is on a raised deck with dining room, lounge and bar areas with views over the bush. There is also a swimming pool. On our guided day and night game drives by open 4WD vehicle, search for herds of elephant, wildebeest, giraffe, bush buck, kudu, lechwe, plus all the predators. BLD
