Queensland

Discover Queensland’s wonders

Nicknamed the Sunshine State, Queensland is a destination in itself. The remarkable Great Barrier Reef is undoubtedly the biggest drawcard, spanning more than 344,000 square kilometres. The reef is home to countless numbers of marine species, and exploring the magical coral gardens, cays, islands and sandbars, by boat or with mask and snorkel, is a must-do activity.

Just north of Cairns, gateway to many of the state’s natural wonders, is another World-Heritage listed site – the primordial Daintree Rainforest. This is one of the most complex ecosystems on earth, home to many unique species like the rare southern cassowary, and stunning scenery like Mossman Gorge and Cape Tribulation.

A few hours from the state’s capital Brisbane is the Sunshine Coast and hinterland, renowned for the towering Glass House Mountains, pretty rural towns and white-sand beaches. Here you will find a number of excellent boutique retreats, perfect for relaxing weekends away.
