Hidden in a valley between Mount Kenya and the Aberdare Mountains, Solio Lodge is a 19,000 acre private conservancy set within the Solio Game Reserve which is 45,000 acres in size. As the only accommodation option within this sanctuary, guests at Solio Lodge are guaranteed an extremely exclusive safari experience. Furthermore, the property offers just 5 beautiful cottages, set beneath traditional thatch but entirely contemporary in style. Open fireplaces provide warmth during cool evenings, whilst full length windows and sundecks take advantage of sweeping mountain views. One cottage can be converted into a two-bedroom unit that can sleep up to five – perfect for a family.
Solio Lodge boasts magnificent shared dining and living areas, including an open-air deck set beneath ancient trees. Manicured grassy areas invite relaxed ball games or peaceful reading, while there is also a small boutique where souvenirs can be bought. Prepared with plenty of fresh, homegrown ingredients, meals are often served al fresco within a stone’s throw of grazing antelope or beneath a blanket of stars.
Things to do at Solio Lodge aside from very productive game drives by day or night include bush picnics, guided nature walks, trout fishing in nearby Aberdare National Park, helicopter flight-seeing and in-room massages. The ranch is an internationally acclaimed rhino breeding reserve and sightings of up to 40 rhinoceros in a day are not uncommon.

How to get to Solio Lodge
From Nairobi, Solio Lodge is approximately 4 hours by road. It’s also possible to take a scheduled flight into Nanyuki Airstrip from the capital, which is located about an hour’s drive from the property.
