Relive the lives of Kenya’s early settlers at Loldia House, a picturesque former homestead surrounded by flower gardens with views over Mount Longonot, an extinct volcano. Choose from accommodation in ensuite bedrooms within the old family house or within a romantic cottage on the grounds.The hilltop three-bedroom Loldia Cottage, which features its own sitting room with an open log fire is ideal for groups of friends or a larger family.

Rustic meals are served either in the colonial-style dining room or in the shade of a sprawling fig tree. Read or play cards in the communal lounge, which is warmed by a period fireplace.

One of the highlights while staying at Loldia House is a day trip to picturesque Lake Nakuru, regularly visited by large flocks of pink flamingo and home to abundant rhino. Lake Bogoria is also a good place to see these attractive birds. Scenic Lake Naivasha is also highly recommended, especially for bird-watching enthusiasts. For a quintessential gameviewing experience, go on safari at Loldia Ranch.

Other sites of interest in the surrounding area include Crater Lake, the Joy Adamson Museum, Crescent Island, Hell’s Gate National Park and Mount Longonot.

How to get to Loldia House

Loldia House is around 2 hours’ drive from Nairobi on a combination of sealed and unsealed roads. It is also possible to book a scheduled or charter flight from Nairobi directly to Loldia (approximately 25 minutes).
