Expect plush bathrobes, free standing bathtubs and designer chairs that you can sink into at the end of a long day of Mountain Gorilla trekking.

Aside from trekking into Volcanoes National Park to see the rare Mountain Gorilla, things to do at Bisate Lodge including hiking into bamboo forests to observe attractive endemic Golden Monkeys, to the scenic summit of Mount Bisoke and to Dian Fossey’s grave and research centre, which sits in the saddle between two volcanic peaks. It’s also possible to walk through the local Bisate community and admire their agricultural cooperative, help with reforestation efforts and enjoy a relaxed coffee and tea tasting.

Guests can transfer by road to Bisate Lodge from Kigali, a journey of around 2.5 hours. However, it’s also possible to charter a flight to the airport at Ruhengeri, which is just over half an hour’s drive from the property.
