The much lauded Emirates One&Only Wolgan Valley Resort offers absolute luxury and total seclusion in the heart of the Australian bush. The lush, untouched Wolgan Valley is situated between the Wollemi and Blue Mountains national parks. The region gets its name from “Wolga”, the local Aboriginal name for the wild clematis found throughout the canyons, and is favoured by rock climbers and bush walkers for its natural beauty. Camping was once the only option in this pristine environment, but Emirates One&Only Wolgan Valley Resort now provides an ultra-luxurious yet carbon neutral alternative.

At the heart of this award-winning resort is the Wallerawang Homestead, built in 1832 by the Walker family as the base of their cattle grazing operations. Wallerawang once hosted eminent naturalist Charles Darwin, and is now home to the outstanding Wolgan by Bentley – their signature restaurant – as well as the providore-style Country Kitchen, The Valley Bar & Terrace and an exquisite day spa. A cheese room and wine cellar round out the property’s smorgasbord of dining options.

Scattered around the homestead are 1,2 and 3-bedroom freestanding Federation-style villas, each furnished with their own private deck and temperature-controlled pool. Lounge in front of the fireplace and appreciate the views, or explore the magnificent Australian bush on or by mountain bike. Creature comforts such as free Wi-Fi and 24-hour room service are standard in all villas. As the resort is so secluded, there is no mobile coverage making it a breeze to disconnect from the outside world.

Nature-based activities

Emirates One&Only Wolgan Valley Resort offers accommodation on a full board basis, with two nature-based activities a day. Examples of what you may do include guided bushwalks and cycling. Guests are also invited to get their hands dirty, assisting with valuable conservation programs such as tree planting, water quality monitoring and animal surveys.

Wolgan Rangers

Named by Condé Nast as one of the world’s best family hotels, kids at Emirates One&Only Wolgan Valley Resort will love the many opportunities to spot icons of the Australian bush including wombats, kangaroos and koalas. Their Wolgan Rangers program is aimed at entertaining and educating young children between the ages of 5 and 10. Experienced guides introduce young minds to Australian bugs, birds and animals; activities may include fossil-hunting, biking, hiking, horse riding, orienteering and archery.

Getting there

Wolgan Valley is a scenic 3 hours’ (190 kilometre) drive through the Blue Mountains from Sydney’s CBD. Alternatively, a private chauffeur transfer can be arranged or an unforgettable helicopter transfer over Sydney and the Blue Mountains.
