Classic and Luxury Tented Camps
frica is one of the few places in the world where you can fall asleep at night to the wild soundtrack of the bush, from chirping crickets to foraging elephants and roaring lions. And with an array of beautiful tented camps available in a wide range of spectacular wildlife-rich environments across the continent, you don’t even need to compromise on luxury to enjoy this unique experience.
Most tented camps offer accommodation in comfortable suites with timber furniture and proper beds enrobed in quality linen whose canvas “walls” come with mesh “windows”. If you prefer sleeping behind solid walls, there are lodges that can provide ‘star beds’ – often canopied and romantically draped in mosquito netting, set up on a raised sleep-out platform or on your own villa rooftop, and even rooms that are more akin to treehouses, cantilevered amid the tree canopy!
Luxury Under Canvas
Many tented camps also offer meals or refreshments outdoors – around a campfire in a “boma” (traditional fenced enclosure) or on airy, elevated decks sometimes facing a busy waterhole. Of course, there’s always the offer of sundowner drinks – a quintessential feature of an African safari.
