Amongst the most luxurious accommodation options on the vast Madikwe Game Reserve reserve is Tuningi Safari Lodge, which has just 6 exclusive villas fitted with personal fireplaces, generous timber decks and decadent outdoor rock showers. If travelling with a group of friends or family, also on the premises is a self-contained villa known as Little Tuningi, which features its own kitchen, private ‘boma’ and pool.
In the main lodge is a beautiful lounge, dining area and bar. In addition, there is a large sundeck, infinity pool with views of a popular waterhole and a large open-air ‘boma’ for dinner by firelight. Knowledgeable rangers will pick you up from here in open 4WD vehicles for morning and afternoon game drives or escort you on a journey of discovery on foot.
Whilst children under 5 years of age aren’t usually allowed to venture into the bush in the same manner as their parents, they are well catered for at Tuningi, which offers a fantastic program involving “bumbles”, essentially short bush outings designed for little ones. In the hours afterwards, kids are looked after by enthusiastic nannies who will entertain them with workbooks, clay workshops and treasure hunts inspired by the surrounding African wilderness.

How to get to Tuningi Safari Lodge
Guests can transfer by road to Tuningi Safari Lodge from Johannesburg (around 4 hours) or reach the reserve by air, flying directly to Madikwe’s private airstrip (approximately 50 minutes’ flight duration).
