Mila
Tented Camp

An intimate tented camp in the Serengeti

Offering perfect seclusion, this intimate tented camp is perched on a ridgeline of granite kopjes in Tanzania’s southwest Serengeti.

Situated just north of Lake Eyasi in the 129,500-acre Mwiba Wildlife Reserve, Mila Tented Camp offers guests a classic tented safari camp experience. Oozing safari chic, this small camp has just 5 elegant canvas tents and one family tent. Surrounded by the smells and sounds of the bush, Mila Tented Camp is ideal for those in search of a true “Africa under canvas” experience. Camps and lodges across Africa boast some of the highest levels of service in the world from some of the friendliest and most welcoming people in the world; however the service at Mila Tented Camp is a step above, with each guest enjoying the services of a private guide and vehicle.

The camp’s décor draws inspiration from the local Hadzabe tribespeople – who are known for their ability to source honey. The spacious tents feature double or twin beds and are divided into three sections: a welcoming bedroom, comfortable lounge area and ensuite bathroom. Each area is connected by canvas doors which can be left either open or closed. Linens and textiles reflect the colours of the surrounding landscape. There are lamps on the bedside tables, and dual fans positioned at the end of the beds. Fly netting also surrounds the beds and the entrances to the tents, which can be left open or closed.

Fly Camping Dinner

A place to relax

The camp’s communal sitting and dining areas are shaded by two large canvas tents on a raised platform. The lounge features comfortable sofas and chairs along with ample plush cushions and outdoor deck chairs on the small patio, creating a welcoming and relaxed vibe. A large campfire area is perfect for after-dinner drinks and discussing the day’s wildlife sightings.

Activities

Activities at Mila Tented Camp are extensive. Guests can expect their own vehicle and guide, allowing for more personalised safaris. The camp offers both day and night game drives and walking safaris and, for keen photographers or enthusiasts all day game drives are also possible. Cultural activities with multiple local tribes, including walking with the Hadzabe and dancing with Datoga tribespeople are also possible. Two very popular excursions (which require advanced bookings) are fly-camping and helicopter excursions. Fly-camping is an experience you are not likely to forget, enjoying dinner and a night out under the stars in one of the camps open-air tents.
