With an unbeatable location inside the jaw-dropping Torres del Paine National Park, explora Patagonia has turquoise Lake Pehoe and the pristine Paine River at its doorstep, with dense lenga forests and snow-capped massifs as a backdrop. Guests at this all-inclusive property may choose from some 40 explorations, including horseback riding and hiking some of the best known trekking circuits on Earth or lesser-known trails through ‘the end of the world’. The lodge even has its own catamaran for cruises across the lake.

From September to April, if the weather permits, you may also be able to share a mate with the gauchos down at the stables, with succulent spit-roasted lamb for dinner.

The 49 rooms at explora Patagonia feature huge windows but no televisions or Wi-Fi so as not to detract from glorious nature outside. These are however, available in the hotel’s common areas.
