Tierra Patagonia Hotel & Spa

The striking Tierra Patagonia Hotel & Spa perches on a bluff, offering magnificent views of Chile’s Torres del Paine National Park.

The striking timber-clad Tierra Patagonia Hotel & Spa perches on a bluff, where the pampa meets shimmering Lake Sarmiento. There are huge windows inside, so virtually every corner of the property enjoys magnificent views of the Torres del Paine National Park, declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 1978. Like the other hotels in the Tierra portfolio, Chilean materials are used liberally in the decor, with living and dining spaces carefully designed for both mingling and a quiet glass of delicious local wine.

Accommodation at Tierra Patagonia Hotel & Spa is offered in 32 rooms; all are incredibly spacious and feature impressive vistas. Expect handcrafted furniture, typical Patagonian textiles and premium bath amenities. If travelling with family or friends, there are interconnecting rooms that can sleep up to six in complete comfort. Guests at this property have access to a fantastic day spa equipped with a stunning indoor pool, an outdoor Jacuzzi and a steam bath.

Plan each day with your friendly guide in the central lounge or map room. Excursions are half or full day and graded according to physical ability. Choose from hikes, horseback riding, cycling and boat cruises to places of interest in the Torres del Paine National Park for instance, then return to a hearty yet simple meal where regional ingredients such as fresh seafood and lamb shine. Staff will be more than happy to help pair your chosen dishes with a fine Chilean wine, Pisco Sour or craft beer.

Patagonia Tours Overview

Why Patagonia: Located in Argentina and Chile, Patagonia is a natural wonderland of dramatic mountains, giant glaciers, cascading waterfalls, secluded lakes and beech forests. It is also an area rich in wildlife including seals, humpback whales, pumas, condors and guanacos.

When to Go: Summer (Nov – Mar) is the best time to visit Patagonia when the weather is at its mildest and daylight hours are at their longest (18 hours). Bear in mind however, that this is also the windiest and busiest time of year. Winter provides clearer views, stiller conditions and fewer tourists; however temperatures can be extremely cold. Torres del Paine National Park is open all year round.

Combine With: Combine Patagonia with a more in-depth trip through the rest of Chile or Argentina. Alternatively, visit neighbouring Brazil or head further north into Bolivia or Peru.

Getting There: From Santiago, there are short flights to Punta Arenas, Puerto Montt, Balmaceda or Temuco, whilst from Buenos Aires you can fly into El Calafate or Ushuaia in the south or San Carlos de Bariloche in the north.
