Reef Villa & Spa

In sleepy, seaside Wadduwa, Reef Villa & Spa provides guests with the opportunity to step back into the heady days of the British Raj.

Located in the unspoilt seaside hamlet of Wadduwa in Sri Lanka’s southwest, Reef Villa & Spa provides guests with the opportunity to step back into the heady days of the British Raj. At the heart of this charming seaside property is the central Plantation House, which tastefully blends traditional Ceylon style with discreet modern comforts. Expect beautifully carved wooden furniture, sparkling lily ponds filled with tropical fish and antique features such as patio swings and punkah fans, used before electricity became widespread.

Accommodation is in just 7 lavish suites, either located inside the Plantation House or spread across the property’s three luxuriant acres. All offer a timeless elegance and unparalleled space, dominated by original four-poster beds hand-carved for British officers and Indian nobility. Exquisite colonial floor tiles sourced from all over the subcontinent cover the floors, whilst intricate hardwood doors and windows salvaged from old manor houses complete the picture.

Reef Villa & Spa’s acclaimed restaurant overlooks the infinity pool and features an extensive a la carte menu featuring the best of international and Sri Lankan cuisine. There is also a tranquil Ayurveda spa onsite, where traditional treatments such as steam baths and Abhyanga massages can be enjoyed. If somehow you could be tempted to leave the premises, excursions to nearby temples, Galle, Kandy and the Pinnewela Elephant Orphanage can be arranged.
