Masai Mara – Sala’s Camp
Sala’s Camp boasts an enviable location on the banks of the Sand River in the southern tip of the reserve. Just 2 kilometres from the Tanzanian border, Sala’s is one of the first camps (and one of the best) to experience the annual wildebeest and zebra migration, which arrives in the Masai Mara each year from June to September. It is also home to a variety of other fantastic game year-round.
An intimate camp, Sala’s accommodates a maximum of just 18 guests in 7 spacious tents (including two family suites). The tents all feature superb floor-to-ceiling glass doors that lead out onto either a private patio or wooden deck as well as private plunge pools. If guests wish, there is also plenty of space for private star-lit dining.
Giraffe Manor
This boutique hotel is a Nairobi icon and offers one of the city’s most unique experiences: the opportunity to feed and walk with rare Rothschild’s giraffe. Masai Mara – Wildlife Viewing
Meaning “spotted” in the Maa language of the Maasai, the rolling plains of this beautiful reserve are dappled by sun and shadows, and dotted with distinctive acacia trees. As art of the Serengeti ecosystem, the Masai Mara plays host to one of earth’s greatest wildlife spectacles. Every year between mid-June and mid-October, over two million wildebeest, zebra and Thomson’s gazelle migrate north from Tanzania’s Serengeti searching for water and grass.
The Mara is magnificent at any time of year, with plenty of resident game, including graceful herds of giraffe, topi, eland and elephant, as well as all manner of predators. Leopards thrive in the riverine forests, while the grasslands are the perfect habitat for cheetah. The park also has one of the highest lion concentrations in Africa. As a result, the Mara has been the inspiration for many famous wildlife photographers and the focus of successful documentaries such as the BBC’s Big Cat Diary.

11 days/10 nights ex Nairobi, Kenya
Days 1-3
Samburu National Reserve
Transfer this morning from Nairobi to the Samburu National Reserve in Northern Kenya by light aircraft (flight not included). On arrival you will be met and transferred by road to Sassab, a lavish Moroccan-inspired tented camp located in the neighbouring Westgate Community Conservancy. The 9 glorious tents are spread out across a ridge line with sensational views over the Ewaso Nyiro River. Each boast enormous open-air bathrooms and private plunge pools.
While you are here, enjoy guided game drives in both the Westgate Conservancy and the Samburu National Reserve, searching for iconic species such as gerenuk, blue-legged Somali ostrich, Beisa Oryx and Grevy’s zebra. A range of other activities are also possible including cultural interactions with the local Samburu community, camel-back safaris, exploring by quad bike or fly-camping. Days 4-5
Solio Game Reserve
This morning, if time permits, enjoy one last game drive at Sassab, before transferring by light aircraft (not included) to Solio Game Reserve. Transfer by vehicle to nearby Solio Lodge – the only property in this 19,000 conservancy. With just 5 contemporary cottages, it’s a truly intimate safari experience. Rhino are a highlight here, as the reserve is internationally recognised as a private rhino breeding sanctuary. Aside from game drives, activities also include cycling or walking across Soil Ranch or perhaps visiting a local flower or coffee farm. Alternatively, get a view of the landscape from a birds-eye view, on a helicopter excursion (additional cost). B L D
Days 6-9
Masai Mara National Reserve
Transfer by light aircraft today (not included) to Sala’s Camp, located on the banks of the Sand River in the southern tip of the reserve. Just 2 kilometres for the Tanzanian border, Sala’s is one of the first camps (and one of the best) to witness the annual wildebeest and zebra migration, which arrives in the Masai Mara each year from June to September. It is also home to a variety of other fantastic game year-round.
Other than productive game drives exploring the magical landscape, guests can enjoy classical African sunsets sipping their sundowners, as well as spectacular star-gazing opportunities at night. Bush breakfasts are also a favourite amongst guests. When not out on safari, make the most of the camp’s facilities, including the gym, day spa or onsite games such as bocce. Day 10
Nairobi, Giraffe Manor
Enjoy a final morning activity in the Masai Mara, before transferring to Nairobi by air (flight not included). On arrival you will be met and transferred by road to Giraffe Manor – a Nairobi icon that offers one of the most unique experiences in the world: the opportunity to feed and walk with rare Rothschild’s giraffe. The property accommodates guests in 12 beautiful guest rooms that feature charming antiques, canopied beds and classic Baroque furniture. Whilst here you can relax and walk amongst the gardens. Guests can also visit the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (the world’s leading orphan elephant rescue and rehabilitation programme) as well as author Karen Blixen’s former home – which is now a museum.
Day 11
Nairobi, Tour Ends
This morning, enjoy a memorable breakfast, perhaps meeting some of the local residents who might poke their head in through a window or door. Afterward, transfer to the airport where your tour ends. B
