The Birder’s Inn

The Birder’s Inn is the perfect base for bird-watching in India’s wonderful Keoladeo Ghana National Park which boasts over 350 avian species.

Bharatpur’s Keoladeo Ghana National Park might be small at 29 square kilometres, but its richness is unrivalled, with the reserve inscribed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. The best place to base yourself when exploring this park is without a doubt, at The Birder’s Inn. Located a stone’s throw from Keoladeo’s entrance, this charming property is run by renowned Bharatpur born and bred naturalists – including Tirath Singh, who accompanies our popular small group escorted tours.

Accommodation at The Birder’s Inn is simple but very comfortable, with 24 quiet rooms furnished with ceiling fans, air-conditioning and private ensuite facilities. An onsite restaurant serves both a la carte and buffet-style meals that can be enjoyed either indoors and al fresco. There is also a small outdoor swimming pool surrounded by inviting sun loungers.

Bird-watching tours are the highlight of your stay at the Birder’s Inn, which you can do by bicycle or cycle rickshaw, accompanied by a knowledgeable naturalist or on your own. Keoladeo Ghana offers fantastic birding all year round, with exotic migratory species arriving in huge flocks between October and March. Should you wish to explore the nearby 18th century Deeg Palace, which features an ingenious natural cooling system, tours can be easily arranged. It is also possible to take day trips to popular destinations such as Agra, Fatehpur Sikri, Jaipur and Ranthambore.
